Genbu-Kai Riverside Karate-Do
The Riverside Karate Alumni Foundation (RKAF) is a California 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formally incorporated in 2009 by the Genbu-Kai Riverside black belts. RKAF operates the Genbu-Kai Riverside dojo of Genbu-Kai Shito-Ryu Karate-Do, a worldwide organization lead by Shihan Fumio Demura. Shito-Ryu is one of the four traditional styles of karate from Japan. RKAF was created in part, to help students and the community learn about the art and history of our karate.
The belief in our style, is that a black belt has a responsibility to mentor the lower ranked students (kohai). Our philosophy involves teaching and passing down what we have learned through our training and life experiences to our kohai, as a means of paying tribute for what we have learned from others. For years, the Riverside black belts have donated their own time, money, and experiences in an effort to better our students and community. Forming a non-profit organization to carry on these efforts and traditions was a natural progression.
RKAF will continue assisting students who pursue training and education in the art of Genbu-Kai Shito-Ryu Karate-Do and provide an avenue for understanding the importance of education, community involvement, and the rich traditions and history of our karate. Our goal is to produce leaders and engaged members who positively impact our society through the teachings and philosophies of Genbu-Kai Shito-Ryu Karate-Do.
